AAS Committee on the Status of Minorities in Astronomy (CSMA)

The Committee on the Status of Minorities in Astronomy (CSMA) is a standing committee of the American Astronomical Society. The mission of the CSMA is to enhance the participation of underrepresented minorities in astronomy at all levels of experience.

AAS Committee on the Status of Women in Astronomy (CSWA)

The Committee on the Status of Women in Astronomy was established in 1979. We serve staggered 3-year terms. Our charge is to recommend to the AAS Board of Trustees practical measures that can be taken to improve the status of women in astronomy and encourage their entry into this field.

The AAS Committee for Sexual-Orientation and Gender Minorities in Astronomy (SGMA) works to promote equality for sexual-orientation and gender minorities (SGMs) within our profession, including those identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning or queer, or asexual.

AAS Working Group on Accessibility and Disability (WGAD)

WGAD is tasked with promoting inclusion of and equity of opportunity for disabled astronomers at all career stages.

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM), Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional association for LGBTQ+ people in the STEM community. With over 100 student chapters at colleges/universities and professional chapters in cities across the United States and abroad, oSTEM is the largest chapter-based organization focused on LGBTQ+ people in STEM.
