IU Astronomy graduate students participated in the inaugural STEM Exploration Day at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2022. The event attracted thousands of kids and families to share the excitement of science and to highlight successful women in STEM as positive role models. Kids were able to share the excitement of space exploration with the challenge of designing a space telescope that would fit inside a rocket faring, and then unfold with just the pull of a string. Many adults found the activity challenging, as well!
Astronomy students who participated include Brooke Kimsey-Miller, Brandon Radzom, and Kristin Brady shown in the picture, along with Marvin Jones (below). The Department appreciates the time and dedication of our graduate students who serve the community!
