Undergraduate student Bradley Hutchinson has received a scholarship from the Universities Space Research Association (USRA). He is one of 7 students chosen from 130 applicants based on the strength of his academic accomplishments and leadership qualities. Faculty from USRA’s member universities reviewed the applications and made their recommendations for selection to the USRA President and CEO, Dr. Elsayed Talaat. The USRA Scholarship Award Program supports undergraduates who will be future leaders in the fields of space science and aerospace engineering.
Bradley is a double major in Astronomy & Astrophysics and in Mathematics. He is working on undergraduate research projects with Prof. Enrico Vesperini and former postdoc Dr. Francisco Aros to characterize the radii of globular clusters using dynamical models, and also with Prof. Caty Pilachowski to develop machine learning methods to identify anomalous stars from large, multi-color, photometric datasets. Bradley’s first paper was recently published in the Astronomical Journal and is available online at https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2025AJ....170..255H/abstract
Congratulations, Bradley!
