One of our favorite Indiana Hoosiers, John Reynolds, passed away in December. After receiving his B.S. in Astrophysics in 1976, John went on to earn a Master’s degree in Geophysics at IU, and joined Mobil Oil as an exploration geologist, travelling the world. John met and married his life-long love, A-Lan, also a geophysicist, at Mobil Oil. John and A-Lan moved to Tucson in 2003, where John taught geology and meteorology at Pima Community College.
John and A-Lan have generously supported our undergraduate astronomy program, enabling undergraduate research students to travel for observing and to conferences, and supporting our undergraduate Astronomy Club through the Edward C. McCreery Endowment honoring John’s grandfather.
Our hearts are with A-Lan and family at this time.
