IU alumnus William Bowman (B.S. 2014) has successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation at Penn State University, studying with Dr. Robin Ciardullo and Dr. Joel Leja. His dissertation “Robust Estimation of Physical Properties of z~2 Emission-line Galaxies” focuses on galaxy formation and evolution through the lens of large emission-line galaxy surveys at cosmic noon using a spectral energy distribution fitting code. He has also been involved in the Hobby-Eberly Telescope Dark Energy Experiment (HETDEX) survey. Will is moving on to a postdoctoral position at Yale to work with Pieter van Dokkum on the Dragonfly Telescope project.
