IU Undergrads Robbie Mailliad, James Wells, Clara Scheumann, and Dominic Bishop, recently
met for dinner at Lennie’s with Adler Planetarium President and CEO Elizabeth Babcock. Dr. Babcock, an IU alumna, was visiting IU as a College Luminary to meet with students. The College of Arts and Sciences Luminaries Program gives College undergraduate students a unique opportunity to gain leadership and professional experience that will help them transition into life after earning their degree.
A distinguished museum executive and cultural anthropologist, Elizabeth Babcock brings more than two decades of strategic leadership in major cultural and educational institutions. Most recently, she was the founding director of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum in Washington, D.C., where she led the development of vision, campaigns, and national partnerships for this landmark national museum.
Following dinner, the students led Dr. Babcock on a tour of Kirkwood Observatory to show how our students share astronomy with our campus and community.
